| The 3rd Annual Stock Wars sponsored by Motiv RC was held at 180 Raceway in Middle River, MD on December 8-11. This race is different from most since it focuses only on stock classes with no modified classes offered. Additionally, it offers two variants of TC and 1/12 stock classes. One is for the "Pro's" which is the class for the usual A-Main contenders from Snowbirds, Nationals, IIC, etc. to compete. The 2nd option is for those looking to make a name for themselves in these classes, having not yet made an A-Main appearance at a large event in the U.S. This year, Stock Wars went with handout spec motors in both TC and 1/12 classes, making for tighter and more competitive racing. Additionally, the race adopted a Qual Points and Triple-A main format which is not typically seen on carpet in the U.S. |

Day 1, Friday was open practice. We had a small team present this year but worked pretty well together. We had 1 round of seeding that took the best 3 consecutive laps to set the qualifying order for Saturday. Saturday was 4 rounds of qualifying, again using Qual Points taking the best 2 rounds.
Qualifying went well for the team. We took TQ honors in 1/12 Pro with myself winning the first 3 rounds, only losing round 4 due to a small self inflicted front-end issue resulting in a DNF. In 1/12 Open, Luke Pittman would qualify 2nd overall with a round win and a couple of 2nd place efforts. Darren Howard would place himself 7th on the grid in 1/12 Open, and local Glen Shreve would qualify 2nd in the B-Main of this class.
In USGT, Manny Flores and Danny Jenkins would qualify 1 and 3 in that order with Darren Howard and Miles Schneese also making the A in 7th and 8th respectively. In TC Open, Miles Schneese, Dan Pawling, Mark Tiamson, Kevin Nestor and Shaun Spangler would qualify 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th respectively. TC Pro would have myself qualify 2nd with two wins and two 2nds, Luke Pittman would start 6th and Danny Jenkins 9th. In the F1 class, Manny Flores would be quick enough for P2, Jeff Weltz 4th, Mark Tiamson 6th, and Kevin Flores 10th.
